Ericeira is the cutest fishing village renowned for its stunning beaches which draw surfers, sunbathers, and nature lovers from around the world. Whether you go there as a day trip from Lisbon or for a full week of surfing, you will end up at the beach at one point! Ericeira has so many incredible beaches to choose from that it can seem hard to do. Let’s take a look at the three of the best ones that each offer something different:
- Ribeira d’Ilhas – Surf
- Praia dos Pescadores – Central
- Praia do Sul – Main
Ribeira de Ilhas
Located to the north of Ericeira, this sandy beach is the one with the most consistent surfable waves. There are better waves in Ericeira but harder to get to and more dangerous than at Ribeira.
Praia dos Pescadores
The town of Ericeira was built around Praia dos Pescadores, it really is the central beach. A positive aspect of this one is that every facility is within easy reach. A negative aspect would be that being a busy harbor, the fishy smell is more present than most other beaches.
Praia do Sul
This is the only beach of Ericeira accessible within a stone’s throw of the village. It is not only my favorite beach, but also the main beach! It is not regarded as a serious surfing beach, there were in fact no surfers the times I went. Praia do Sul is beautiful and perfect for sunbathing and relaxation.
