3 Of The Best Things To Do In Sintra

Sintra is a muuuust if you have a free day in Lisbon. It’s a historical village with colourful palaces, old castles and a beautiful viewpoint of the ocean. It needs to be on your to-do list in Portugal.

From Lisbon, you need to take the train at Rossio station. A two-way ticket to Sintra is 5 euros. It takes about 45 minutes each way. The train leaves twice every hour. Try to go early, so you have time to see everything you want. Here are my favourite places to go in Sintra:

Quinta da Regaleira is an old Gothic manor. While walking around in the manor, you will notice that a lot of facts about the manor are written. Don’t forget to walk outside too. You’ll see gardens, an old church and a restaurant where you can take a break if you are tired of walking. Don’t miss the initiation well! It leads to secret passages. One of my favorite activities in Sintra.

Palácio da Pena was the palace of King Ferdinand II until he died in 1855. It’s full of colour and for sure the funkiest place to see in Sintra. The king loved art, theatre and literature. You can imagine what the inside and the outside of the palace look like.

Castelo dos Mouros is full of historical facts. The first fortifications are from the 8th century during the Muslim conquest. You will walk around the site and see some beautiful viewpoints as well as some old rock murals.
