4 Of The Best Things To Do In Clonakilty

4 Of The Best Things To Do In Clonakilty

Clonakilty is a charming and small town close to Cork. If you decide to visit this town on a day trip from Cork like me, you need to take the Bus Éireann Route 237 to Clonakilty. It takes about 1h15 minutes and costs €10 (15$ CAD). Click here for the bus website.

Since it’s a small town, there aren’t a lot of activities to do. You should be able to explore the town in one afternoon. So, let’s get right into it. Here are 4 of the best activities to do in Clonakilty.

  1. Walk and shop on Ashe St. & Western Road
  2. Enjoy a café at Aris Café
  3. Visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception
  4. Walk along the water on Inchydoney Road

Walk and shop on Ashe St. & Western Road

Ashe St. & Western Road are the two main streets for shopping and eating in a restaurant. It’s the perfect first stop to make on your day trip to understand the vibe of this Irish town.

Enjoy a café at Aris Café

Located on Ashe St., I stopped there for lunch at Aris Café. I had the Hummus, Olives, Sun dried Tomato pesto with Sour Dough – €10 (15$ CAD) and it was excellent. I recommend this café because you can either sit outside or upstairs with a cute view of the street.

Visit the Church of the Immaculate Conception

This church is free to visit. The inside of the Church of the Immaculate Conception is stunning with its colorful stained-glass windows. It’s a great spot to check out in Clonakilty so don’t miss it. + It’s budget friendly.

Walk along the water on Inchydoney Road

My friend and I walked along Inchydoney Road. It’s a great activity to spend some time with your friends while walking under the sun. Benches along the road offer the chance to stop and enjoy the view without walking too far!
