5 Of The Best Things To Do In Brussels

5 Of The Best Things To Do In Brussels

Brussels is the capital of Belgium, so you don’t have a choice but to visit it. The city is known for being the capital of Europe. Here are my 5 favorites activities ( the best ones) to do in the city :

  1. Check out the European Parliament
  2. Manneken Pis
  3. Explore the Cinquantenaire Park
  4. Have a picnic and walk in Leopold Park
  5. Explore The Grand-Place & the Street of Herbs

Check out the European Parliament

Brussels is known as the Capital of Europe because it’s the seat of the EU (European Union). This means that the European Parliament is in the city. The building is huge and actually looks pretty normal. However, I still found it very impressive, and it was a nice addition to my itinerary in Belgium.

Manneken Pis

This famous statue is simply a boy urinating. It was very funny to see, and I understand the surrounding hype. The statue is free to look at. I went in the winter, so there weren’t too many people around. However, since it is very popular, there are going to be more people in the summer. You should go early in the morning or late at night to avoid tourists.

Explore the Cinquantenaire Park

This large public park is 30 hectares. It’s a historic landmark in the city. The centerpiece of the park is the Cinquantenaire Ark. This park is a great activity if you want to walk outside the noise of the city. It’s also a great place to have a picnic or walk with your dog.

Have a picnic and walk in Leopold Park

This park is smaller than the other one, but it is still very nice. There’s a small lake in the middle of it. It’s also the perfect spot for a picnic.

Explore The Grand-Place & the Street of Herbs

The Grand-Place is a great spot to visit during the day as much as at night. The city’s Town Hall is located in the Grand-Place. I went during the night, and it was filled with people. The atmosphere was awesome. The streets around the Grand-Place are filled with shops, little stands and restaurants. The main street is named Street of Herbs (Rue du Marché aux Herbes). I definitely recommend adding this activity to your list!
