Known for its stunning beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage, Phuket offers an abundance of exciting activities for every type of traveler. Whether you are seeking relaxation on pristine shores, thrilling water sports adventures, or looking for an opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, Phuket has it! Let’s see together what are the top attractions and must-try experiences that make Phuket a dream destination for travelers around the world. Here are 7 of the best things to do in Phuket :

  1. Experience Thai culture at Wat Chalong
  2. Visit Patong Beach
  3. Explore Old Phuket Town
  4. The Big Buddha
  5. Go to an ethical elephant sanctuary
  6. Enjoy the crazy nightlife – Bangla Road
  7. Phang Nga Bay

Experience Thai culture at Wat Chalong

Wat Chalong is the largest and most important Buddhist temple in Phuket. It offers a glimpse into Thai spirituality and traditions. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the serene atmosphere, participate in a traditional ceremony, or even receive a blessing from the monks.

Visit Patong Beach

Patong Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Phuket, which makes it pretty crowded. It is mostly famous for its lively and energetic atmosphere. Consider it a must-visit destination if you are looking for a mix of sun, sea, and vibrant entertainment.

Explore Old Phuket Town

The charming streets of Old Phuket Town are filled with colorful buildings, local shops, and delicious street food. If you’re hungry, definitely try the local food, and if you have free time, do a little shopping. You can also spend some time walking there only to enjoy the beauty of the town.

The Big Buddha

On top of Nakkerd Hill is where we find this majestuous statue. It doesn’t look that big in pictures but it is in fact 45 meters high. The climb up is steep, but the breathtaking panoramic views of Phuket make it worth it.

Go to an ethical elephant sanctuary

I think it is important to precise the word “ethical” because no, not all of them are. I went to Bukit Elephant Park and I highly suggest you do the same. Check out the article Best Ethical Elephant Sanctuary In Thailand to find out more about my experience and to learn how to know if a sanctuary is really ethical or not.

Enjoy the crazy nightlife – Bangla Road

Bangla Road is THE place where the party comes alive in Phuket. The street is filled with bars and clubs like I had never seen before. You can find live music, DJs, street performances, and huge crowds of people in all of that. It’s a great place to dance the night away, grab a drink, or simply watch all the action happening. The options of bars and clubs are endless but I would say that two of my favorites that offer completely different vibes are Patong Backpackers Bar and Illuzion Phuket.

Patong Backpackers Bar: This is where you will meet a lot of young travelers, make some friends, play beer pong and enjoy. The music is not too intense which makes it a nice place to hang out.

Illuzion Phuket: If you don’t like crowded places, do not go there. This is one of the most insane clubs I have ever gone to in my entire life. You are not going there to make friends and are surely not going there to have a nice talk. You go there to dance and have the time of your life.

Phang Nga Bay

Phang Nga Bay is a stunning destination in Thailand that you definitely shouldn’t miss! There are many different tours available for you to explore the beauty of the bay. You can take a boat tour and cruise through the emerald waters and check out iconic spots like James Bond Island. Some tours also offer activities like kayaking, snorkeling, and swimming. It’s a breathtaking experience that will leave you in awe of nature’s wonders.
