7 Of The Best Things To Do In Dublin

7 Of The Best Things To Do In Dublin

The capital of Ireland, Dublin, is a vibrant city with charming pubs, historic landmarks and friendly locals. You don’t have a choice but to visit this city when you are in the country. I don’t especially love big cities, but Dublin has such a great atmosphere that made me go back again and again. So, before saying too much, here is a list of the activities you must do when you are in Dublin:

  1. Go to Jameson Distillery Bow St.
  2. Go to the Guinness Storehouse
  3. Visit Temple Bar
  4. Enjoy a drink in a pub
  5. Explore Trinity College Dublin
  6. Enjoy St. Stephen’s Green Park
  7. Visit EPIC Irish Emigration Museum

Go to Jameson Distillery Bow St.

Everyone knows Jameson whiskey. Well, guess what? You have a unique chance to visit Jameson Distillery in Dublin. I loved my time there. The distillery offers an experience into the world of Irish whiskey production. I decided to do a guided tour where I learned about the history of Jameson, the whiskey-making process and whiskey tastings. But, there are so many tour options depending on your budget and what you want to do.

My tour was the Bow St. Experience. It was 26€ (39$ CAD) for a 45 minute fully guided tour, a comparative tasting of three Jameson whiskeys and a Jameson signature cocktail. I 100% recommend the tour I did, it was so much fun!

Go to the Guinness Storehouse

Once again, I think everyone knows what Guinness is. This facility provides a journey through the history, brewing techniques, and cultural significance of Guinness beer. The most fun part of this activity is learning the art of pouring the perfect pint! No need to say that this activity is a must-visit for Guinness lovers who want to enjoy a freshly poured glass of this black-lager beer. Once again, there are multiple options, so click here to have access to the website tours and prices.

Visit Temple Bar

Temple Bar is a classic in Dublin. This bar offers live music and has a vibrant atmosphere. There is a reason this pub is always full. Go check it out!

The area around Temple Bar has a great number of pubs, restaurants, and street performers. So, even if you don’t spend the whole night at Temple Bar, it’s a popular destination for nightlife for both locals and tourists alike.

Enjoy a drink in a pub

Speaking of going out, you don’t have a choice but to enjoy a Jameson drink or a Guinness in a pub. It’s the best (and most fun) way to have a taste of Irish culture. Watching live bands playing traditional music is the best way to start a night out. You won’t be bored, believe me. There are so many pubs in Dublin that you will find something you like no matter where you are!

Explore Trinity College Dublin

Founded in 1592, Trinity College is a prestigious and Ireland’s oldest university. Known for its stunning architecture, the main attraction of this college is the famous Book of Kells in the Old Library. The library is phenomenal and absolutely worth a visit.

Without a guide, it costs 15€ (23$ CAD) to visit the Old Library. You need to book in advance since it’s a famous activity in Dublin. We went to Trinity College in the morning and booked tickets for the Old Library for the end of the afternoon on the same day.

Enjoy St. Stephen’s Green Park

Soak the sun and enjoy a peaceful afternoon at St. Stephen’s Green Park. The 22-acre space features manicured lawns, a large lake, and walking paths. It’s the perfect place for a picnic and enjoy some time with your friends or lover!

Visit EPIC Irish Emigration Museum

Being part Irish myself, I had to visit the EPIC Irish Emigration Museum. I learned so many interesting facts about Irish emigrants and history. This museum uses interactive exhibits, multimedia displays, and personal stories to capture our attention. You can also trace your family roots (like I did in the picture).

The prices vary depending on your age and how you book, so click here to see EPIC Irish Emigration Museum entrance fees.
