Monaco is a tiny but glamorous country surrounded by France. It is known for its crazy atmosphere, luxury lifestyle and breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea. Whether you’re looking for high-stakes activities or simply soaking in the glamorous ambiance, Monaco offers a unique experience for everyone. Here are the activities you need to do when visiting Monaco:

  1. Walk in the old town of Monaco
  2. Watch F1 Monaco Grand Prix
  3. Visit Monte Carlo Casino
  4. Visit Oceanographic Museum
  5. Discover Monaco Top Cars Collection

Walk in the old town of Monaco

The old town of Monaco, also known as Monaco-Ville, is a charming and historic district. It’s filled with narrow cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. Because of its elevated position, the old town provides stunning panoramic views of the Mediterranean Sea and the modern city below. It’s the perfect place to sit at a café and enjoy life! The key attractions of Monaco-Ville are Monaco Cathedral and the Oceanographic Museum.

Watch F1 Monaco Grand Prix

Unfortunately, this activity is only possible in late May or early June, depending on the year. This Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious and iconic Formula 1 races. For four days, the city is transformed into a circuit, since the race occurs in the narrow streets of Monte-Carlo. This Grand Prix is also known to have an awesome lifestyle and party time around it.

I was in Monaco exactly one week before the start of the F1 Grand Prix. The city was already getting ready for the race. It was impressive to see all the work that goes around this event. I highly suggest visiting Monaco a few days before the race if you don’t have the money to attend(since it’s pretty expensive) the Grand Prix . I had a great time looking at the F1 team getting set up for the race!

Visit Monte Carlo Casino

The Monte Carlo Casino is an iconic gambling complex in Monaco. Did you know that it has been featured in numerous films like GoldenEye and Iron Man 2? Anyway, even if you don’t plan to gamble, this casino is a nice stop in your itinerary. The elegant decor and the sophisticated atmosphere are a must-experience.

PS: You need to be dressed accordingly to be able to go inside the casino. Don’t forget to check the dress code before your visit!

Visit Oceanographic Museum

The Oceanographic Museum was founded in 1910 by Prince Albert I. It features marine exhibits, aquariums with diverse sea life and interactive displays. The museum also advocates for marine conservation and research. The entrance fee is 19€ (28$ CAD) for adults and 12€ (18$ CAD) for students and children.

Discover Monaco Top Cars Collection

The Monaco Top Cars Collection is an exclusive car museum. It’s also in reality the collection of the Prince of Monaco. The museum features a remarkable collection of rare and prestigious automobiles. You will see a diverse range of vintage, luxury and F1 cars. The entrance fee is 10€ (15$ CAD) for adults and 5€ (7$ CAD) for students and children.

I was skeptical about doing this activity because I don’t particularly fancy cars. However, since the collection is so diverse, I had a blast looking mostly at the vintage cars. I highly recommend making this museum a stop in your itinerary.

Check out the Prince’s Palace

This magnificent residence serves as the official residence of the ruling monarch of Monaco. It is possible to explore certain parts of the palace, like the State Apartments. The Prince’s Palace is also known for its impressive ceremony of guard change. The entrance fee is 10€ (15$ CAD) for adults and 5€ (7$ CAD) for students and children.

Visit Monaco Cathedral

Officially known as the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas, the Monaco Cathedral is a church located in the heart of Monaco-Ville. It also serves as the final resting place for members of the Grimaldi family, including the former Princess of Monaco. Entry to the cathedral is free.
