8 Of The Best Things To Do In Canggu, Bali

8 Of The Best Things To Do In Canggu, Bali

Canggu is definitely a paradise for surfers, food lovers and above all digital nomads (people working online and therefore not needing a fixed home). The prices of the accommodations please all types of wallets, and the place is full of life. It is impossible to get bored in Canggu. Here are 8 of the best things to do in Canggu to help you plan your itinerary in the area.

  1. La Brisa Farmers Market
  2. Surfing
  3. Beach Clubs
  4. Pura Tanah Lot
  5. Eat, eat, eat
  6. Relax on the beaches
  7. Party! (Best party place on Bali in my opinion)
  8. Shopping

La Brisa Farmers Market

On every Sunday there is this fun gathering of many artisans and makers. If you are interested in natural and handmade products, this place is for you.

Surfing

There are a couple of nice spots for surfing beginners in Bali and this is one of them. Canggu doesn’t have the prettiest beaches, but the fun of surfing makes up for it. If you are a more advanced surfer, don’t worry, there will still be great waves for you to catch.

If you are looking for a good spot to surf, I would say that Echo Beach is really good for intermediate surfers and that Batu Balong Beach is the best one for beginners.

I did not take surf lessons in Canggu, but I did in Kuta and loved it. I heard a lot of people saying the experiences are extremely similar. Prices for lessons are very cheap, especially if you compare the prices to lessons in Costa Rica, for example.

Beach Clubs

Unlike most people think, beach clubs are for everyone. We tend to think that they are only for parties, but we forget how peaceful it is during the day. You can easily spend your whole day at a beach club.

My favorite one is definitely FINNS Beach Club. This spot is legendary and will make you feel like you’re in a really luxurious place. A nice relaxed vibe in the day, ending with an insane party vibe at night. Of course, a place like this is an expense, but it is worth it. Traveling on a budget, I was reluctant to go. What I didn’t know at that time was that the entrance fee is actually more of a minimum spend. Different entrance fees are depending on the place you are reserving, but it is all the same system. If you paid 50$ CAD for your entrance, whatever food or drinks you get will only start getting charged after you’ve spent 50$ CAD. So at the end of the day, it really isn’t that expensive. I could keep talking about my experience here for a long time since it was amazing.

Another good spot is The Lawn. It is more relaxed but can still end up hosting a good party.

La Brisa is probably the prettiest beach club in Canggu but sadly is the only one I didn’t go to. I heard amazing things about the place but didn’t hear anything about it being a party place. So, I deduce it isn’t.

Pura Tanah Lot

Apparently this one is a must that I sadly didn’t know about… That is why I’m telling you, so you don’t miss out like I did! Having a camera is a necessity for this one. Since it’s a must, everyone says that it is filled with tourists. It is a beautiful temple on the side of the Indian Ocean. There is an entrance fee of 60 000 IDR (5,16$ CAD).

Eat, eat, eat

I keep saying this: the food in Bali is incredible! Wherever you go, it is so cheap but only on the prices, not the flavors. Make sure to try new foods and restaurants. The local food is great but there are also a lot of other types of restaurants like Italian, Mexican, Greek and everything you can think of. Bonus: there are a lot of vegan options and vegan restaurants.

Relax on the beaches

Like I said, since I wouldn’t lie to you, Canggu doesn’t have the nicest beaches. The vibes are great because of the surfers’ energy but the water and the sand are nothing compared to Nusa Dua’s beaches or Uluwatu’s beaches.

Here are some great beaches: Batu Balong Beach (the most popular), Berawa Beach and Echo Beach.

Party! (Best party place on Bali in my opinion)

I had so much fun partying in Canggu! Places like Luigi’s, Old Man’s, The Lawn and Sand Bar (my favorite) are definitely places you’ll want to be. All of them have different vibes and all of them are relatively close to each other. Start your night wherever you want but the best place to end it is definitely at Sand Bar where the bar closes at 3 am every night.

Shopping

No matter what you are looking for, you can find it in Canggu. Luxury, handmade or vintage, they have it. Shopping is never a must activity while traveling. If it is something you like to do, now you know Canggu is a great place to do it.
