Perfect One Day Itinerary Bangkok

Perfect One Day Itinerary Bangkok

As I said in my previous article “Everything you need to know about Bangkok – The ultimate truth”, I don’t think you need a lot of time in this city to get the full experience. If I could go back in time and review what I did in the city, this is how I would spend my perfect day in Bangkok.

  1. Best way to enjoy your morning (breakfast)
  2. Visiting a temple
  3. Lunch – In an impressive shopping mall
  4. Walk around Chinatown
  5. Dinner on rooftop
  6. Go out early Khao San Road
  7. Sleep and leave the next morning

1. Best way to enjoy your morning (breakfast)

If you arrived the night before, and you are starting your day early in Bangkok, don’t waste any time. Get up and go walk around to find a little place to eat breakfast. This is not a meal you will necessarily look up to, and it won’t be the highlight of your day. My advice is to save space in your stomach for something more special at lunch.

2. Visiting a temple

There are a lot of impressive temples in Bangkok, but they are all around Thailand and a great majority of them look impressive. Since you will not have the time to visit them all, my advice is to inform yourself about which ones are more special or more interesting for you.

Wat Phra Kaew also known as ‘The Temple of the Emerald Buddha’ is the most important and visited in Bangkok. It is built within the grounds of the Grand Palace. In my opinion, this is the temple you should visit.

Don’t forget! Always make sure you are properly dressed to visit a temple.

3. Lunch – In an impressive shopping mall

Visiting these giant shopping malls is a great visual experience, especially if it’s your first time in a huge, world-known city. There is no point in wasting your time shopping in the stores but to feel the experience, have lunch in the mall! The one I visited is called ICONSIAM and there was a pretty big food court which consisted of several food stands that offered local delicacies. It had a good vibe, it was mostly street food but in a controlled environment. There were so many choices to choose from! Pad Thai, dumplings, mango sticky rice and so much more. Plus, it was really cheap.

4. Walk around Chinatown

If you want something impressive for your camera, walking around Chinatown will be a lot of fun. What makes it unique and fascinating is how Chinese and Thai cultures are mixed. Take a good look at the China Gate, be curious, see all the little goods you can buy on Sampeng Lane and enjoy some exotic street food.

5. Have dinner on a rooftop

Rooftop bars and restaurants are really popular in Bangkok. It can be really beautiful up there watching the sunset or even just the lights of the city at night. If you want to live a fancy experience, you should definitely check out these places. If you are on a tight budget, keep in consideration that these places are more expensive.

6. Go out early on Khao San Road

I specify to go out early because bars and clubs close at 2 a.m. This road is definitely not for everyone, but if you like to party go, have a look 100%. It is a crazy experience, seeing huge crowds of people in the same street and hearing that insanely loud music. Get yourself a bucket drink and watch the action going.

7. Sleep and leave the next morning

You have now had the perfect day in Bangkok. You have, in my opinion, seen the best side of it. It is now time for you to rest and start exploring the amazing other regions of Thailand the next morning.
