Antigua

Antigua is a UNESCO World Heritage Site! It is renowned for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture and cobblestone streets. This is the city where you will walk the most. Every nice activity is close to each other and absolutely worth a visit. The city offers a rich historical experience with many restored ruins, beautiful churches and the impressive Santa Catalina Arch.

Antigua itself has so many things to see, so many great restaurants to try and many cute shops to visit. It is the place where you will spend the most nights during your trip to Guatemala because it is also the starting point of the next 3 spots you HAVE to pay a visit.

Volcano Hike – Trip from Antigua

This is THE most famous Guatemala Activity! Unless you do not consider yourself able to do this hike, you cannot skip it! It was one of the most incredible and original experiences of our entire life and I hope it will be yours too.

There are so many things to say about this experience, so much so that we wrote our biggest article ever existing on this website about it! Check out Everything To know About The Acatenango Volcano Hike, Guatemala.

Hobbitenango – Trip from Antigua

Hobbitenango is such a fun place to visit! It is inspired by J.R.R Tolkien’s fictional world of Middle-earth, particularly the Shire, which is the homeland of the hobbits in his beloved “The Lord of the Rings” and The Hobbit” series. Over there you will find hobbit-style homes with round doors and windows, lush green landscapes, and a cozy, rustic charm.

Chichicastenango – Trip from Antigua

Chichicastenango is a vibrant town renowned for its bustling markets, rich cultural heritage and deeply rooted traditions. Visiting this town is a very special experience. It was my first time being in such a crowded environment. The main reason why visitors go to Chichi is for its famous market, one of the largest and most colorful in Central America.

The town also offers a glimpse into the spiritual life of the indigenous K’iche’ Maya people, with sacred rituals and ceremonies taking place at the Santo Tomas Church.

The market is held every Thursday and Sunday.

Lake Atitlan

Often celebrated as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Lake Atitlan is another great must! Surrounded by three towering volcanoes and charming Mayan villages, it offers a stunning natural setting that captures travelers. On this lake, you will jump cliffs, kayak, party, relax, well everything you can think of! There is something for everyone, you just have to be in the right town.

Semuc Champey

Well, that is what we call a hidden gem! Nestled in the lush jungles of Guatemala, this natural wonder should not be missed. Semuc Champey is known for its series of turquoise pools formed by a limestone bridge over the Cahabon River. It is the perfect place to relax, swim or even explore.

f admiring the waters doesn’t impress you enough, there are more options for adventurous travelers. You can embark on guided tours through the nearby Lanquin Caves, experience exciting river tubing, or hike to the Mirador viewpoint to have a panoramic view of the pools below.
