Where To Go In Aruba

Where To Go In Aruba

Known as “One Happy Island”, Aruba is a Caribbean gem that offers visitors a diverse array of attractions. When I tell you that it is home to the #2 ranked best beach in the world, Eagle Beach, I hope it gives you a hint of how beautiful this island is. Even if relaxation is a must, you can also find some thrilling and moving activities in certain regions. I like to divide the island into four big chunks: Oranjestad, Santa Cruz, Sint Nicolaas and Arikok National Park. Let me tell you a little more about what these places have to offer.

  1. Oranjestad – Northern Coast
  2. Santa Cruz – Inland Region
  3. Sint Nicolaas – Southern Coast
  4. Arikok National Park

Oranjestad

The dear capital city of Aruba is characterized by its colorful Dutch colonial architecture, bustling streets and lively atmosphere. You will find a blend of historical landmarks like Fort Zoutman (the most ancient structure of Aruba), modern amenities like the Renaissance Marketplace (shopping, dining and entertainment), and cultural experiences like the Archeological Museum of Aruba. You can explore charming streets lined with pastel-colored buildings, browse local markets for souvenirs and handicrafts, and indulge in a diverse culinary scene.

If you’ve heard of Palm Beach like most people, it’s on the northern coast. For more information, check out 14 Of The Best Things To Do And See In Oranjestad And The Northern Coast, Aruba.

Santa Cruz

Located in the heart of Aruba, Santa Cruz offers a tranquil contrast to the bustling coastal areas. It is characterized by its agricultural landscapes, quiet villages, and cultural heritage. The area is home to the Aruba Aloe Factory and Museum, where visitors can learn about the island’s aloe industry and its importance to the local economy.

Sint Nicolaas

You will clearly end up in Sint Nicolas for Baby Beach! It’s an iconic beach perfect for families with small children since the water is not deep at all. It is mostly known for its colorful street art, its rich cultural heritage and its laid-back atmosphere. When I say colorful street art, I mean that the streets are FILLED with vibrant murals and street art representing scenes of Aruban history, culture and folklore.

Arikok National Park

Aruba’s famous national park, the island’s untouched beauty, will blow your mind. Your eyes will go from cactus to hidden caves adorned with ancient petroglyphs. Every corner of this park tells a story. You can hike through winded trails, go swimming in a natural pool and even get your foot’s dead skin eaten by small fishes. Visiting the park was an iconic and unforgettable experience. You have to do it!
